Kyoto Hannaryz outlasted Shiga L-Stars in overtime for the opening win. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shiga L-Stars won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Shiga L-Stars used huge pressure winning it 29-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 14-17. Kyoto Hannar. forced 21 Shiga L-Stars turnovers. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Five Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds.
