Regular Season Round 8: Kyoto Hannar. - Ryukyu GK 81-83

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Kyoto Hannar.'s (3-5) home loss to third ranked Ryukyu GK (5-3) 81-83 on Sunday. Kyoto Hannar. cut a 13-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Strangely Kyoto Hannar. outrebounded Ryukyu GK 40-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 assists. Swingman Shuhei Kitagawa (185-85) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Lawrence Hill (203-87, college: Stanford) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Kyoto Hannar.Five Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with SeaHorses and Hitachi SR. Kyoto Hannar. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with five games lost. Ryukyu GK will face league's leader Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kyoto Hannar. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
