Regular Season Round 30: Chiba Jets - Toshiba BT 82-84

Third-ranked Chiba Jets (19-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Toshiba Thunders (25-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Kanagawa managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected easier game. Chiba Jets were trailing by 15 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-19 charge of Toshiba Thunders, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Chiba Jets to just 7 points in first quarter. Toshiba Thunders made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Toshiba Thunders especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) contributed with 27 points for the winners. American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) added 20 points and 6 assists in the effort for Chiba Jets. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders maintains first position with 25-4 record. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the third place with ten games lost. Toshiba Thunders are looking forward to face Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) in Tokyo in the next round. Chiba Jets will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
