Regular Season Round 60: Hokkaido L. - Sendai 89ers 92-70

Date: May 3, 2017
Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Hokkaido L. (23-35) rolled over 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (13-45) in Saporro 92-70 on Wednesday. Hokkaido L. made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Five Hokkaido L. and four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hokkaido L. maintains fourth position with 23-35 record. Sendai 89ers lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 45 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face higher ranked Chiba Jets (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's leader Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
