Regular Season Round 24: Toyama Grouses - Chiba Jets 65-88

There was a minor upset when second-best Toyama Grouses (17-19) were crushed at home by second ranked Chiba Jets (26-10) 88-65 on Sunday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Toyama Grouses' 32 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Toyama Grouses' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international forward Naoki Uto (188-91) with 22 points and 4 assists and American center Dexter Pittman (208-88, college: Texas, agency: Inception Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Chiba Jets have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 26-10 record having just two points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Toyama Grouses. Toyama Grouses lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second place with 19 games lost. Chiba Jets will face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyama Grouses will play on the road against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
