Regular Season Round 50: Iwate Big Bulls - Ehime OV 61-88

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (7-42) were crushed at home by third ranked Orange Vikings (26-23) 88-61 on Sunday. Orange Vikings had a 41-29 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Orange Vikings maintains third position with 26-23 record having four points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Hiroshima D. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth place with 42 games lost. Orange Vikings will face Dragonflies (#4) in Hiroshima in the next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play on the road against Sendai 89ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
