Regular Season Round 15: Palanga - Telsiai 81-78

The most exciting game of round 15 in the NKL took place in Palanga. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-bestTelsiai (11-5) to third ranked Palanga (11-2) 81-78 in the game for the second place. Palanga outrebounded Telsiai 47-34 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Palanga looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Telsiai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-1986) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 assists. Forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-1990) helped adding 13 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Gediminas Lesciauskas (197-2001) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Rolandas Jakstas (202-1992) scored 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Palanga and five Telsiai players scored in double figures. Telsiai's coach Sandis Buskevics rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Palanga have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Telsiai at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost.
