Regular Season Round 18: Tornado KM - Perkunas 95-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas:Tornado KM (#5) and Perkunas (#10). Tornado KM (10-5) smashed visiting Perkunas (4-10) by 23 points 95-72 . The game was mostly controlled by Tornado KM. Perkunas was better in second period 18-17 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tornado KM forced 20 Perkunas turnovers and outrebounded them 54-34 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tornado KM players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for center Arminas Vilkas (200-2007) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Egyptian Rami Malek (197-2008) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Kajus Gerdziunas (198-2007) replied with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Dominykas Grunkis (164-2007) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Perkunas. Five Tornado KM and four Perkunas players scored in double figures. Perkunas' coach Modestas Bizys already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 10-5 record. Perkunas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost.
