Regular Season Round 19: Zalgiris - Tornado KM 71-82

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas:Tornado KM (#5) and Zalgiris (#6). Zalgiris was defeated at home 71-82 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Tornado KM. Zalgiris was better in second period 23-22 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tornado KM dominated on the defensive end, holding Zalgiris to just 6 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris ' 30. They outrebounded Zalgiris 51-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for center Arminas Vilkas (200-2007) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Azuolas Hopenas (179-2007) helped adding 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side guard Dominykas Urbonavicius (188-2007) responded with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Nedas Orlickas (180-2007) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion (11-5) moved-up to fourth place. Zalgiris lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost.
