Pioneros (#8) forced the game against Toros (#3) into an overtime, but lost by eleven points 96-107 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 8-8. Toros had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Pioneros were plagued by 36 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Brody Angley (180-86, college: Santa Clara, agency: JEMsports) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. American-Nigerian forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-85, college: SMU, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 30 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Forrest Fisher (193-80) replied with 26 points and Jamaican-American point guard Akeem Scott (186-83, college: High Point) added 18 points and 7 assists in the effort for Pioneros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach Josep Claros rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Pioneros at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Toros will face Soles (#6) in Mexicali in the next round. Pioneros will play on the road against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
