A very interesting game took place in Ciudad Juarez. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Panteras (12-12) to ninth ranked Ciudad (7-16) 80-78 on Thursday evening. Panteras were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 20-17 charge of Ciudad, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Ciudad players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Jorge Alfredo Casillas (196-90) answered with 14 points and Jesus Villalobos added 18 points in the effort for Panteras. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ciudad maintains ninth place with 7-16 record. Panteras at the other side keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. Ciudad's next round opponent will be higher ranked Barreteros (#7) in Zacatecas and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panteras will play at home against Correcaminos and hope to win that game.
