Tijuana Zonkeys managed to secure a 7-point victory 90-83 on Friday. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave's 20. They outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. American players dominated also this game. The winners were led by guard Dominic Cheek (198-91, college: Villanova) who scored that evening 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 29 points by forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St., agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Frayles de Guasave. Forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains third position with 12-6 record having five points less than leader Hermosillo. Loser Frayles de Guasave dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Navolato. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Frayles de Guasave will play again against Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) and hope to secure a win.
