Regular Season Round 28: Soles - Toros 93-72

Date: January 4, 2018
The game with biggest result difference took place in Mexicali. Local Soles (17-9) outscored 5th ranked Toros (12-13) 93-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toros. Soles made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Kohl Meyer (190, college: Puget Sound) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Meyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points by American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76) did not help to save the game for Toros. Naturalized American swingman Adam Arciniega (201, college: Bethel, KS) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Soles maintains third position with 17-9 record having just three points less than leader Mineros, which they share with Capitanes. Toros at the other side dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost. Soles' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toros will play against the league's leader Mineros (#1) and hope to win that game.
