The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Correcaminos' (16-18) home victory over 9th ranked Abejas (12-20) in Ciudad Victoria 93-82 on Sunday. Correcaminos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Kennedy Jones (188-89, college: Arlington Baptist) who scored that evening 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) supported him with 18 points. Correcaminos' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 24 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Greg Smith (198-91, college: Colorado St.) did not help to save the game for Abejas. International forward Marco Ramos (198-87, college: Grand Canyon) added 20 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Correcaminos moved-up to seventh place. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 20 games lost. Correcaminos will meet bottom-ranked Panteras (#11) in the next round. Abejas will play against Libertadores and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
