Regular Season Round 77: Sacramento K. - LA Clippers 108-117
Date: January 17, 2015
Forward Blake Griffin scored 30 points, and forward Matt Barnes finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers held on for a 117-108 victory over the shorthanded Sacramento Kings on Saturday at Sleep Train Arena. Barnes scored 22 in the first half, and guard Jamal Crawford scored eight straight points during a quarter-opening 8-1 run to start the final period, and the Clippers won in Sacramento for the fourth straight time. Crawford finished with 13 points, and helped the Clippers stretch an 83-78 lead at the end of three quarters to 102-90 early in the fourth quarter. The Kings got as close as 103-97 down the stretch but still lost for the third straight time and finished a six-game homestand at 2-4. Sacramento fell to 2-10 without forward DeMarcus Cousins this season. Cousins sat out with a right foot injury suffered early in the Kings' loss to the Miami Heat on Friday. Forward Jason Thompson had 23 points and a career-high 21 rebounds for Sacramento, and forward Rudy Gay came off the bench to score 17. Gay, who missed the previous two games with a sprained right knee, came off the bench for the first time since doing so against Los Angeles on Feb. 1, 2013, when he made his debut for the Toronto Raptors. But the Kings also played their second straight contest without forward Carl Landry (sprained right wrist), and guard Ramon Sessions missed his 12th straight game with a lower back strain. Forward Omri Casspi suffered an eye injury and played only 43 seconds for Sacramento. He had missed the previous six games before returning Friday. Guard J.J. Reddick finished with 18 points, and point guard Chris Paul added 12 points and nine assists for the Clippers in 32 minutes. Guard Darren Collison scored 17 points, guard Ben McLemore added 14 and forward Derrick Williams scored 13 in his second straight start for Sacramento. The Kings outrebounded the Clippers 54-34 but turned over the ball 18 times. Courtesy of: wptz.com
