Important game to mention about took place in Jamestown. Fourth ranked Jackals (5-3) saved a 3-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Hurricanes (6-6) 106-103 on Sunday evening. They outrebounded Hurricanes 55-40 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jackals brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. Hurricanes were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Mike Lyons (180, college: Thomas Univ.) notched 26 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Nathanial Hill supported him with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even 21 points and 4 assists by Puerto Rican-American swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) did not help to save the game for Hurricanes. Forward Tyquan Stroman (198, college: St.Augustine) added 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Jackals and four Hurricanes players scored in double figures. Jackals maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. Hurricanes at the other side keep the third place with six games lost. Jackals will play against league's leader Mavericks in Owensboro in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hurricanes will play at home against Sky Chiefs and hope to get back on the winning track.
