Regular Season Round 5: SMS PZKosz - AZS PGd 81-72

2Liga round 5 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader AZS PGd (4-1) against fifth ranked SMS PZKosz (3-1) 81-72 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of AZS PGd. AZS PGd trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 19-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-81 at the end of the game. SMS PZKosz forced 20 AZS PGd turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by AZS PGd helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Michal Samsonowicz (188-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. Daniel Golebiowski (196-98) contributed with 22 points and 4 steals for the winners. Lukasz Jaskiewicz (202-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Robert Kolka (184-93) added 19 points in the effort for AZS PGd. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SMS PZKosz maintains fifth place in Group A with 3-1 record. AZS PGd at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Asseco II and AZS UMK Torun. They were replaced at the leadership position by AZS PK. AZS PGd will play next round against Trefl II Sopot trying to make it back to the top of the standings. SMS PZKosz will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Asseco II in Gdynia.
