Regular Season Round 19: Widzew - AZS UMCS 52-84

The game between 11th ranked Widzew (3-16) and seventh ranked AZS UMCS (11-8) in Lodz on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Lublin outscored Widzew 84-52. AZS UMCS made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Widzew turnovers and outrebounded them 40-23 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Ukrainian forward Katerina Dorogobuzova (190-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Australian forward Tess Madgen (180-90) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. Guard Julia Drop (175-95) came up with 14 points and 7 assists and Klaudia Gertchen (180-96) added 10 points respectively for Widzew in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS UMCS moved-up to sixth place, which they share with CCC Polkowice. Widzew lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. AZS UMCS will meet at home higher ranked Energa Torun (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Widzew will play against the league's leader Sleza Wroclaw (#1) and hope to secure a win.
