Regular Season Round 12: Sleza Wroclaw - AZS UMCS 68-73

The most important game in the last round took place in Wroclaw between third ranked Sleza Wroclaw (9-2) and fifth ranked AZS UMCS (7-4) on Thursday night. Sleza Wroclaw was defeated by AZS UMCS in a tough game at home 68-73. AZS UMCS made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. AZS UMCS outrebounded Sleza Wroclaw 35-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Feyonda Fitzgerald (170-95, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) who added 16 points during the contest. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Marissa Kastanek (175-90, college: N.Carolina St.) with 30 points and her fellow American import point guard Sharnee Zoll-Norman (170-86, college: Virginia) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Sleza Wroclaw's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AZS UMCS have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with CCC Polkowice. Defending champion Sleza Wroclaw dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Artego Bydg.. AZS UMCS is looking forward to face TS Ostrovia (#10) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round where they are favorite. Sleza Wroclaw will play on the road against the league's leader Wisla Krakow (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
