Regular Season Round 15: Basket Gdynia - AZS UMCS 74-64

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Basket Gdynia (8-6) defeated at home 5th ranked AZS UMCS (8-6) 74-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Basket Gdynia. AZS UMCS was better in third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded AZS UMCS 41-26 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Victoria Jankoska (174-94, college: Michigan St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Kahleah Copper (185-94, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Basket Gdynia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Serbian Dajana Butulija (174-86, agency: BeoBasket) with 16 points and 6 assists and Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) scored 17 points. Basket Gdynia moved-up to fifth place, which they share with AZS UMCS and Gorzow Wlkp. Basket Gdynia will face AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#7) in Gorzow Wlkp. in the next round. AZS UMCS will play at home against Enea AZS P. and hope to win that game.
