There was no surprise in Porto where 6th rankedSangalhos (2-6) were edged by third ranked Vasco da Gama (6-2) 85-84 on Saturday. Vasco da Gama made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Victor Nwagbaraocha (190, college: UMSL) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. Angolan forward Felizardo Ambrosio (202-1987) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Vasco da Gama's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Cape Verdean swingman Sergio Alves (191-2005) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian guard James Woods (185, college: UBC) added 16 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Five Sangalhos players scored in double figures. Vasco da Gama have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Illiabum. Sangalhos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Sampaense and Benfica U23.
