Regular Season Round 14: Al Ahli - Al Sadd 67-88

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#5) and Al Ahli (#8). Al Ahli was smashed at home by 21 points 67-88 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Sadd forced 19 Al Ahli turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. The other American import guard Dee Oldham (193-94, college: Chattanooga) chipped in 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Serbian-FYR Macedonian forward Nenad Zivcevic (203-87, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian center Nemanja Besovic (221-92) added 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Al Ahli's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Sadd maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Al Ahli at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Al Sadd are looking forward to face Al Khor (#7) at home in the next round. Al Ahli's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Qatar Sports Club.
