Very important is a road loss of Prievidza (1-1) against Slavia Kosice (2-0) on Wednesday night. Visiting Prievidza was defeated by Slavia Kosice in a tough game in Kosice 62-68. It looked good early as Prievidza took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Slavia Kosice had a 20-16 second period charge getting the lead and Prievidza was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-68. Slavia Kosice made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game, while Prievidza only scored eight points from the stripe. Slavia Kosice brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Prievidza was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-93, agency: Beo Basket) scored 18 points to lead the charge for the winners and international center Michal Batka (204-87) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. International guard Richard Korner (197-90) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and American-Liberian point guard Jaytornah Wisseh (185-88, college: LIU Brooklyn) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Slavia Kosice will play against Levice (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Prievidza will have a break next round.
