Regular Season Round 33: Levice - Prievidza 84-76

Round 33 in SBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Levice where host Levice (20-8) beat league's leader Prievidza (23-6) 84-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Prievidza. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Prievidza's 30. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) who scored 23 points and 4 assists. Serbian swingman Milos Markovic (201-84, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Svetozar Stamenkovic (202-90) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international guard Richard Korner (197-90) added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Levice maintains fourth place with 20-8 record. Prievidza at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Inter Bratislava. Prievidza will play next round against league's leader Inter Bratislava trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Levice will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Karlovka in Bratislava.
