Regular Season Round 16: Zilina - Iskra Svit 89-123

The game in Zilina supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Iskra Svit (10-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Zilina (4-12). Iskra Svit smashed Zilina 123-89 on Wednesday. Iskra Svit dominated down low during the game scoring 92 of its points in the paint compared to Zilina's 58 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Zilina 40-24 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Iskra Svit looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward DeAndre Davis (203-94, college: Alcorn St.) who scored that evening 25 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-93, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 25 points and 4 steals. Five Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit's coach Michal Madzin felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists by guard Robert Rozanek (190-96) did not help to save the game for Zilina. Jakub Meress (200-96) added 21 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Iskra Svit have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-5 record. Zilina lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Handlova and Karlovka. Iskra Svit will meet at home higher ranked Kosice (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Zilina will play against Rieker KN (#6) in Komarno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
