Regular Season Round 5: Azpeitia - Cambados 77-65

Undefeated leader Azpeitia delivered the fifth consecutive victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Cambados (2-3) 77-65. The game was mostly controlled by Azpeitia. Cambados was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Azpeitia forced 25 Cambados turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cambados' players. Guard Ander Arruti (189-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 assists. American center Michael Mayer (205-92, college: Williams, agency: Duran International) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Azpeitia players scored in double figures. Congolese forward Charles Nkaloulou (199-94) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) added 13 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) in the effort for Cambados. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azpeitia maintains first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Lucentum. Cambados at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with FC Barcelona II and Marin. Azpeitia will play against CB Tarragona 2017 (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cambados will play against Caceres Basket and hopes to get back on the winning track.
