Regular Season Round 5: Paterna - Valencia II 67-77

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Valencia-2 and 5th ranked Paterna had identical 1-1 record. But Paterna was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Valencia 77-67 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 40-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Forward David Guardia (200-90) stepped up and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Adria Duch (185-95) chipped in 16 points. Valencia-2's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Raul Abad (192-79) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and guard Victor Arnau (184-91) scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Valencia-2 (2-1) moved-up to fourth place in Group E, which they share with Myrtia. Loser Paterna dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Valencia-2 will face Myrtia (#4) in Murcia in the next round. Paterna will play on the road against UCAM Murcia II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
