No shocking result in a game in La Linea where second ranked Linense (7-2) smashed 6th ranked Badajoz (3-6) 96-69 on Saturday. The game without a history. Linense led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Badajoz's 34. Linense looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. British forward Sam Buxton (195-89, college: N.Alabama) fired 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Jose Maria Balmon (204-81, agency: Duran International) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Linense players scored in double figures. American forward James Johnson (196, college: Culver Stockton) produced 27 points and point guard Juan Valerio (182-91) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Linense. Newly promoted Linense maintains second place in Group D-West with 7-2 record having ten points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Badajoz lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Linense will face Utrera (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Badajoz will play against San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
