Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Cartagena (2-14) lost on the road to eighth ranked Benidorm (6-10) 76-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Benidorm. Cartagena was better in third quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Cartagena 47-25 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Francisco Solsona (198-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Point guard Raul Timoner (-97) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Pablo Carselle (183-93) answered with 17 points and forward Alberto Ballesta (202-95) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cartagena. Benidorm moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with UCAM Murcia II. Loser Cartagena keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Benidorm will face higher ranked Paterna (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cartagena will play against the league's leader Gandia Basquet (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
