Regular Season Round 18: Velez - Cordoba 63-81

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Cordoba (9-5) defeated 6th ranked Velez (5-9) in Velez-Malaga 81-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cordoba. Velez was better in third quarter 19-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for point guard Jose Medina (185-93) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guinean forward Cheick Sekou Conde (203-92) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Cordoba players scored in double figures. Cordoba's coach Rafael Sanz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Ismael Sanchez (193-83) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Jose Esteba (198-80) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Velez. Cordoba moved-up to second place in Group D-East, which they share with Coin. Velez lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
