There was no surprise when 12th ranked Venta de Banos (3-12) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Santurtzi (12-3) 89-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Santurtzi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Venta de Banos' 30. Venta de Banos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) fired 25 points for the winners. Forward Juan Torres (196-92) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Santurtzi players scored in double figures. Jose Quintero (190-96) produced 16 points and American forward Hunter Merryman (198-93, college: Middlebury, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Santurtzi. They moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with Estela. Venta de Banos lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Santurtzi will face league's second-placed Estela in Santander in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Venta de Banos will play on the road against TAKE Tolosa (#7) and hope to win that game.
