Regular Season Round 21: Gijon - Grupo Inec Z. 54-80

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Grupo Inec Z. (12-4) outleveled on the road 10th ranked Gijon (4-10) 80-54 on Sunday. The game without a history. Grupo Inec Z. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Grupo Inec Z. had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gijon was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and American guard Isaiah Tate (192-89, college: George Mason) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was forward Pablo Diaz (203-86, college: Bethel, TN) with 15 points and center Sergio Delgado (197-88) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grupo Inec Z. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group A-B with 12-4 record having eight points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Newly promoted Gijon keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Grupo Inec Z. will face Rosalia (#11) in Santiago de Camp. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gijon will play on the road against the league's leader Agustinos-Eras in Leon and hope to win that game.
