Regular Season Round 1: Sammic ISB - Gandia 73-64

Sammic ISB used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Gandia 73-64 on Sunday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Gandia won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sammic ISB forced 23 Gandia turnovers. Swingman Ander Garcia (194-89) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and American forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sammic ISB players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Kevin Navarro (178-92) responded with 16 points and Montenegrin forward Vladimir Tomasevic (201-92) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sammic ISB will face CB Tarragona 2017 (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gandia will play against L'Hospitalet and hope to win that game.
