Regular Season Round 2: Coruna - Marin 71-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Marin (1-1) in Coruna on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Leyma Basquet (2-0) 71-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But Marin won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Leyma Basquet won last quarter 21-16. The best player for the winners was Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 15 points. Lithuania center Gediminas Zyle (210-88, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 10 points. American guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leyma Basquet will meet Palma (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Marin will play against Magia Huesca (#16) and hope to win that game.
