Date: October 9, 2016
The most important game of round 3 took place in Barcelona where FC Barcelona beat Baskonia (2-1) 98-92 in overtime on Sunday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baskonia won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Baskonia used huge pressure winning it 17-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-14. 27 personal fouls committed by Baskonia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American-Kosovan forward Justin Doellman (205-85, college: Xavier, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. FC Barcelona's coach Giorgos Bartzokas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) with 16 points and 8 assists and Hungarian Adam Hanga (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four FC Barcelona and five Baskonia players scored in double figures. Baskonia will play next round against strong Andorra trying to make it back to the top of the standings.
