And what about another game where Chantada (#5) beat one of their biggest challengers Betanzos 69-61 on the road. It was a key game for the top position in Group A-B. Betanzos was ahead by 9 points at the halftime before a 34-17 second half run of Chantada. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Betanzos to just 5 points in third quarter. They made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Chantada forced 28 Betanzos turnovers. It was a very good performance for point guard Miguel Caballero (182-92) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds. Center Manuel Sanchez (207-81, college: Indian Hills CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. FYR Macedonia center Oliver Dvojakovski (204-97) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese Abdou Thiam (-98) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Betanzos. Betanzos' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chantada (2-0) keeps a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Betanzos at the other side dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. Chantada's next round opponent will be BVM 2012 (#10) in Mieres and are hoping to win another game. Betanzos will play on the road against Seis do Nadal (#12) in Vigo and hope to win that game.
