Very predictable result when top-ranked Leon (2-0) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Vigo VGO (0-2) 93-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Leon. Vigo VGO was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American Ted Hinnenkamp (201-93, college: Dickinson, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jose Antonio Lopez (190-96) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American Johnathan Murphy (199-89, college: Columbus St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) scored 24 points and 5 assists. Leon keeps a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Vigo VGO still closes the standings with two games lost. Leon will face Gijon (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vigo VGO will play against Innova Chef (#14) in Zamora and hopes to get finally their first victory.
