Regular Season Round 7: Cantbasket - Zarautz Ulacia 79-67

Date: November 5, 2016
Everything could happen in Santander at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Cantbasket and 5th ranked Zarautz Ulacia had identical 3-1 record. This time Cantbasket used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Zarautz 79-67 on Saturday night. Cantbasket outrebounded Zarautz Ulacia 39-20 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for swingman Jaime Garcia (194-87) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Paul Larsen (198-92, college: USC Aiken) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Estanislao Andres (185-90) answered with 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Xabier Osa (196-86) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Zarautz Ulacia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantbasket (4-1) moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with Ardoi. Loser Zarautz Ulacia dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Cantbasket will face Mondragon (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zarautz Ulacia will play against the league's leader Estela (#1) and hope to win that game.
