Regular Season Round 7: Univ.Burgos - Mondragon 71-67

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Univ.Burgos (1-4) beat at home 4th placed Mondragon (3-2) 71-67 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a very good performance for center Gana Ndiaye (208-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Javier Salinas (182) contributed with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Martxel Balanzategui (191-92) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Imanol Ceciaga (186-90) added 15 points in the effort for Mondragon. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Univ.Burgos left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in Group A-A, which they share with Pielagos and Venta de Banos. Loser Mondragon keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Univ.Burgos will face league's second-placed Ardoi in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mondragon will play at home against Cantbasket having rather not much hope for a victory.
