Regular Season Round 9: Gandia - Albacete 95-88

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Gandia (3-6) won against at home higher ranked Albacete (3-6) 95-88 on Saturday. Albacete trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 31-27 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-95 at the end of the game. Gandia made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Gandia outrebounded Albacete 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Guinean forward Cheick Sekou Conde (203-92) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Miguel Martinez (183-95) contributed with 22 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. American guard Kris Davis (188, college: SIU Edwardsville, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) answered with 21 points and Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Albacete. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Albacete's coach Alfredo Galvez tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gandia moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Albacete. Gandia will face higher ranked Cambados (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
