CAI Zaragoza (#12) forced the game against Baskonia (#7) into an overtime, but lost by nine points 92-101. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 25-20 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-5. Baskonia outrebounded CAI Zaragoza 44-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) nailed 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and Italian power forward Andrea Bargnani (213-85) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Baskonia's coach Alfonso Alonso allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 30 points and 8 rebounds and Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for CAI Zaragoza in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Baskonia (6-3) moved-up to fifth place. CAI Zaragoza at the other side keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Joventut and UCAM Murcia. Baskonia will play against higher ranked CB Canarias (#3) in Tenerife in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CAI Zaragoza will have a break next round.
