Regular Season Round 10: Lliria - Paterna 87-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Lliria and one of their biggest challengers Paterna had identical 5-2 record. This time Lliria used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Paterna 87-78 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-20. But Paterna won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lliria made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Paterna was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for center Ruben Ramos (200-94) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Guard Victor Perez (180-90) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Guard Victor Arnau (184-91) replied with 13 points and forward Vicent Santamatilde (197-94) added 10 points in the effort for Paterna. Four Paterna players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lliria (6-2) moved-up to second place in Group E, which they share with UCAM Murcia II. Loser Paterna keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Lliria will face Benidorm (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Paterna will play against Almassera and hope to win that game.
