Regular Season Round 26: Marin - Burgos 79-89

Date: March 4, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Marin (6-20) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Burgos (17-9) 89-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Burgos made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Burgos had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Croatian power forward Filip Toncinic (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. American guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) added 25 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Burgos moved-up to third place, which they share with Palencia and Oviedo. Marin lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Burgos will meet at home Palma (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Marin will play against Caceres Basket (#13) and hope to secure a win.
