Regular Season Round 22: Santurtzi - Valladolid Univ. 70-49

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Santurtzi and 5th ranked Valladolid Univ. had identical 11-7 record. This time Santurtzi used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Valladolid 70-49 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Santurtzi. Valladolid Univ. was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Imanol Orue-mazaga (202-96) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Axel Castillo (194-88) responded with 19 points and Javier Martinez (187-97) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurtzi (12-7) moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A. Loser Valladolid Univ. dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Santurtzi will face TAKE Tolosa (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valladolid Univ. will play against Zarautz Ulacia (#13) and hope to win that game.
