Regular Season Round 24: Albacete - Gandia 89-87

A very close game took place in Albacete between Albacete and Gandia. Fifteenth ranked Albacete (6-18) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked Gandia (7-17). Albacete managed to escape with a 2-point win 89-87 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 2 points. The winners were led by guard Michael Torres (188-94) who scored that evening 25 points and forward Jose Blazquez (197-97) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Jose-Luis Otero (203-89) did not help to save the game for Gandia. Montenegrin forward Vladimir Tomasevic (201-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Albacete and five Gandia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Albacete maintains fifteenth position with 6-18 record. Gandia lost fourth consecutive game. Gandia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Tarragona. Albacete will meet higher ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (#13) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gandia will play against Cambados where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
