Regular Season Round 25: Ensino - Joventut LC 88-77

There was an upset in Lugo where 4th placed Joventut LC (14-11) was defeated by ninth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (11-14) 88-77 on Saturday. Maquinaria Ensino had a 30-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Maquinaria Ensino looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Joventut LC's players. Forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) stepped up and scored 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Cuban guard Licet Castillo (175-73) chipped in 8 points and 8 assists. At the losing side Eliana Soriano responded with 19 points and forward Veronica Sanchez (179-85) scored 17 points. Four Joventut LC players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with RC Celta and Segle XXI. Newly promoted Joventut LC dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face ADBA (#13) in Aviles in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Joventut LC will play at home against GDKO Bizkaia (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
