Regular Season Round 3: Burgos - Mondragon 87-73

There was no surprise when Mondragon (0-1) lost on the road to Burgos (2-0) 87-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Burgos. Mondragon was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Burgos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 28 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mondragon 45-31 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Mario Tobar (200-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Serbian forward Dusan Juzbasic (201-99, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Burgos' coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Andoni Aranzabal (188-91) answered with 26 points and 6 rebounds and Mikel Basterra added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mondragon. Burgos will face Santurtzi (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mondragon will play against Valladolid Univ. (#14) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
