Regular Season Round 7: Lucentum - Plasencia 98-90

Date: November 8, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Plasencia (3-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked HLA Alicante (5-2) 98-90 on Wednesday. HLA Alicante made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Plasencia turnovers. Plasencia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Alvaro Lobo (192-92, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points. Point guard Pedro Rivero (186-79) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Lobo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Fernando Sierra (194-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and Ivorian center Aboubacar Hima (207-94) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four HLA Alicante and five Plasencia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. HLA Alicante moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Plasencia lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. HLA Alicante will face Fontedoso Carrefour (#6) in Avila in the next round. Plasencia will play at home against L'Hospitalet (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
