Regular Season Round 8: Melilla - Sammic ISB 84-77

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Sammic ISB (4-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Melilla Baloncesto (6-2) 84-77. Sammic ISB was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 26-15 charge of Melilla Baloncesto, which allowed them to win the game. Melilla Baloncesto dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sammic ISB's 30. Pablo Almazan (202-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Center Fran Guerra (214-92) contributed with 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Alberto Ruiz-de-Galarreta (198-83, agency: Duran International) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-92) added 12 points in the effort for Sammic ISB. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Melilla Baloncesto maintains fourth position with 6-2 record. Newly promoted Sammic ISB dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Araberri. Melilla Baloncesto will play against Leyma Basquet (#15) in Coruna in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sammic ISB will play at home against Castello (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
