Regular Season Round 15: Albacete - Lucentum 99-87

Very important is a road loss of third ranked HLA Alicante (10-5) against sixth ranked Albacete (10-5) on Friday night. Visiting HLA Alicante was defeated by Albacete in Albacete 99-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of HLA Alicante. Albacete dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to HLA Alicante's 30. They outrebounded HLA Alicante 41-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Albacete players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import center Babatunde Olumuyiwa (203-92, college: USC Upstate) helped adding 18 points and 14 rebounds. Albacete's coach Alfredo Galvez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American Amadou Sidibe (203-94, college: Fairfield, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Pedro Rivero (186-79) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Albacete and five HLA Alicante players scored in double figures. Albacete moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lucentum. Albacete will play against Real Canoe (#9) in Madrid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. HLA Alicante will play on the road against Zamorano (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
